Our chapter of SCBWI Tri-Regions of Southern California includes Orange County, San Bernardino, and Riverside. We've got sunny beaches and snow-capped mountains; Disneyland and Raging Waters; and we've got some incredible writers and illustrators who gather here for a host of retreats, workshops, and schmoozes. For example . . . Workshops:We offer two or three workshops annually. In each, a guest author or illustrator leads a discussion on a selected topic, such as writing a winning query letter, getting the most out of your research. self-editing, writing in a genre. But how do you write and draw a children's graphic novel? Are graphic novels a match for your creative aspirations? How do you submit a manuscript or dummy for a graphic novel? If you are interested in getting the scoop on this fast growing genre, than Graphic Novel Day is for you. Mac McCool will introduce writers and illustrators to the medium in all its forms (U.S. graphic novels and comics, mangas, Eurocomics), but with a special focus on creating children's content. Writers: this event is for you too! The day's program will cover writing as well as illustrating graphic novels. So if you have an idea for a graphic novel, be there!
