Teach Writing for Children Courses at Cal State Fullerton
University Extended Education at Cal State Fullerton is currently
seeking an instructor to teach and facilitate the following course scheduled
in Spring 2006 in the Writing for Children Certificate Program:
Writing for Children: The Marketplace
This class focuses on what to do with your final children's book or product. How do you find a publisher and/or agent? Which publishers specialize in which areas of writing? Do you need an illustrator? What are the major review sources for children's books? How do you promote your book? This course also includes discussion on what to do after publishing a children's book, such as possible mentoring, honing your craft and working on future projects. The class involves representatives from the children's marketplace in the formation of class lectures and presentations.
The ideal instructor would be able to discuss manuscript submission and marketing of a children's book, but also include appropriate guest speakers from the industry.
If you are interested in teaching this particular course, please send a resume to mluzzi@fullerton.edu or call (714) 278-7644. Salary is commensurate with experience in the field.
For more information on the program, go to www.csufextension.org/classes/certificate/certdetail.asp? as there are always opportunities to teach other courses in the program.

The Boston Authors Club is accepting publisher submissions for its two annual Julia Ward Howe Awards of $500 each, for trade books copyrighted in 2005. (If you want to be considered for this award, forward this information to your publisher with a request that the firm follow up on your behalf.)

Two copies of each book must be submitted; these cannot be acknowledged or returned. Deadline for submissions is January 15, 2006. Early submission desirable. Awards to be presented at the Boston Public Library on May 11, 2006.
