You are invited to unleash your inner genius with SCBWI International Conference speaker Chris Eboch. Chris will present her very popular plotting workshop What I Learned from Nancy Drew—Tools for Fast-Paced Plotting. Nancy Drew’s adventures have captivated girls across generations. “Grab you by the throat” openings pull readers into the story. Cliffhanger chapter endings ensure late-night reading under the covers. Action-packed plots keep readers coming back for more. Learn how you can use these techniques to make any story or book better, from genre novels to picture books to narrative nonfiction.

Bring a work in progress -- a few chapters of an early reader, middle grade or young adult novel, or a picture book, short story or article -- for the chance to practice these valuable techniques in hands-on exercises.

Author Bio:

Chris Eboch is the author of 12 books for young people. Her Haunted series follows a brother and sister who travel with their parents’ ghost hunter TV show and try to help the ghosts, while keeping their activities secret from meddling grownups. The Ghost on the Stairs is set at a Colorado hotel haunted by a ghost bride from the 1880s who is waiting for her missing husband to return. The Riverboat Phantom features a steamboat pilot still trying to prevent a long-ago disaster. In The Knight in the Shadows, a Renaissance French squire protects a sword on display at a New York City museum.

Chris's other books include The Well of Sacrifice, a middle grade Mayan adventure, used in many schools, and two inspirational biographies in Simon & Schuster’s Childhood of Famous Americans series, Jesse Owens: Young Record Breaker and Milton Hershey: Young Chocolatier, written under the name M.M.
